Learn about the varied benefits of native meadow gardens, the types of plants and wildlife that thrive in a regional meadow habitat, and how to establish a meadow garden of your own.   

CLASS TWO: Sat September 9 | 8:00 – 11:00 am
Field Trip: Yard Visit (Sam's Home Habitat)
​Gather inspiration, ideas, and identification skills from our visit to a local yard that has made extensive use of native plants in the landscape.​

CLASS THREE: Thurs October 5 | 6:00 – 7:30 pm
Class: Yard Insect Identification
Learn how to identify the beneficial insects that native plants attract and encourage.

CLASS FOUR: Sat October 14 | 8:00 – 11:00 am
Field Trip: Native Plant ID at Carolina Beach State Park
Enjoy a morning of native plant discovery, observation, and identification in one of our region's most outstanding natural habitats.

CLASS FIVE: Thurs November 2 | 6:00 – 7:30 pm
Class: Native Plants for Birds
Establishing a native plant habitat can make a real difference in the number and variety of birds that will spend time right outside your windows. We'll talk about the crucial role that native plants play in sustaining healthy bird populations and identify regional native plants that benefit and attract various species of birds.

Curious about native plants and how to incorporate them into your backyard habitat? Join Wild Bird & Garden’s Jill Peleuses and local entomologist, owner of Doghobble Native Plants, and Star-News contributor Sam Marshall for a special set of classes that will introduce you to our region’s native plants and teach the basics of how to create a hardy and wildlife-friendly native landscape right in your yard.
Class is $75 per person. Class size is limited, and pre-registration is required. Participants will need to provide own transportation for field trips (we will happily help arrange carpooling). Stop by either store or give us a call at (910) 343-6001 to register soon!
